Mineko Iwasaki come from a big family. She's staying in at 4 years old and agreed to be adopt by Mrs Iwasaki, owner of Okiya at Gion to be her successor. At age 15 years old, she start to become maiko in Gion. Struggling with the others, she try her best to be the best Geiko in Gion. Her trouble maker is Saeko-san from the same house. Saeko is the best geiko at that time. She do create some trouble for the house. Ayako-han is the best geiko from Suzunoya. It seem like Ayako-han likes Mineko and want to protect her. The truth is, Mineko is Saeko's little sister.
One day, Saeko bring her son Hiroki to live in the same house. Is should be Mineko's nephew. Hiroki did try to do some bad thing to Mineko. Starting that time, Mineko start to rebel towards Saeko-san, since Saeko-san didn't change her attitude at all. She even throw her out as the successor of the okiya.
On her 21st birthday, she become geiko and the bud is blooming. Saeko-san died drowning in river because she's been rejected by her loved. At that time, there's a movie star, Sheiichiro-san who start to fall in love with her. As he confess his heart to Mineko, Mineko set a promise. He must come to Gion everyday in 3 years so that she will accept his love.
As 3 years pass, she still reject him. Because the goldfish can't live outside the bowl she said. But later, she's fall in love. They do have an affair and she start to make trouble just like her sister did. Luckily her guardian, Umechiyo-san hit her and makes her realize back.
Saying goodbye to the love one is painful. However she rise up again and be the best geiko in Gion. At age 29 years old, she retired and send a rice. However the rice only have the white part, which means she'll never return to the Gion as geiko ever again.
