Many people live in peace and harmony in the fictional city of Futo (風都 Fūto^?, the "Windy City"), an ecologically-minded and wind-powered city. However, the Sonozaki Family sell mysterious devices resembling USB flash drives called Gaia Memories to criminals and other interested parties, who use them to become monsters called Dopants, committing crimes with the police force powerless to stop them. To make matters worse, the Gaia Memories carry a dangerous toxin that cause their users to go insane to the point where they could die from using the devices unrestrained. While searching for his missing father, Kit Taylor finds an Advent Deck—a special card deck that allows the carrier to transform into a Kamen Rider and utilize unique weapons and powers—and uses it to become Kamen Rider Dragon Knight. He butts heads with Len, who serves as Kamen Rider Wing Knight, but the pair join forces after Kit learns that an alien warlord named General Xaviax is responsible for his father's disappearance and intends on abducting him and the entire human race to gain power and rebuild Xaviax's homeworld. Xaviax tricks people on Earth into working for him by promising them whatever they want, or in some cases, by exploiting their fears and desperation. Kit wonders why Xaviax has to trick them and why he doesn't just find bad guys to do the work for him. Len tells Kit that the decks were only made for one person, and that only a person with an exact DNA match to the original Ventaran rider could use it. This is why Kit is able to use the Dragon Knight Deck: he is the exact Mirror Twin of Adam, the original Dragon Knight, who betrayed the original team. One of the new Earth Riders, Chris Ramirez (serving as Kamen Rider Sting and tricked by Xaviax into believing he is working in a special ops government program to fight alien invaders), joins forces with Kit and Len when he discovers he has been deceived, but is Vented—a process which traps defeated Riders in the "Advent Void" between dimensions forever and removes their Advent Decks—along the way. Kit vents Albert Cho, brother of Danny Cho, in retaliation. This leads to a personal hatred between Danny and Kit, as Danny seeks to avenge his brother against Xaviax's orders.

Later, Kase, a fellow survivor of Ventara like Len, joins forces with Len and Kit to fight Xaviax. In addition to training Kit as a Kamen Rider, Len and Kase tell Kit all about the twelve Riders who banded together as the protectors of Ventara—a world opposite to our own—to take Xaviax down. However, due to the unintentionally–traitorous actions of Kit's predecessor, Adam, General Xaviax vented most of the Riders. Furthermore, Xaviax continues to send out Riders who fight to eliminate Kit, Len, and the other Riders who oppose him. After Kit is Vented, Xaviax recruits Adam to once again become Dragon Knight. Unlike when Xaviax convinced Adam to 'betray' the Riders by playing to his desire to remain with the girl he loved, Xaviax now uses a combination of blackmail and using Adam's girlfriend as a hostage in order to force Adam to work for him.

Meanwhile, Len uses his Advent Deck to awaken the Advent Master Eubulon—who brings back the Ventaran Kamen Riders from the Advent Void—and Kit, who becomes Kamen Rider Onyx. He also brings back Kase, though Eubulon is forced to briefly reassign the Advent Deck to Maya Young while Kase is trapped in the Advent Void. Once Kase is better, Maya gives back the deck and the Riders head for Xaviax's base to destroy him - wikipedia

The story starts in 1983. Instead of attending the opening festivities of the 17th store, Oshin Tanokura decides to go on a train trip. Her family is in a frenzy, not knowing where she disappeared to. Oshin's grandson, Kei, remembers the story of the kokeshi doll she once told. Based on a hunch from the story, he goes on a trip of his own and catches up with Oshin. From there, the two of them begin a journey back, traveling through various parts of Japan including where she once lived years earlier, and starts remembering the difficult times she faced in her life.
In 1907, seven-year-old Oshin is sent off by her father to work as a babysitter to support her family. Her boss was a timber trader. Despite the physical and verbal abuse from the chief servant of the working place, Oshin insists on enduring it for the sake of her family. However, when she is unjustly accused of stealing money, she runs away and for days suffers through snow blizzards as she walks back home to be with her mother. But the blizzard is so rough on her, she nearly freezes to death.
Oshin is rescued by a man called Shunsaku, a Japanese Imperial army soldier turned deserter, a self described "hunter". She stays with him during the long winter until the snow melts. Once the blizzard subsides, they are found by an army unit and Shunsaku is shot and killed. Oshin is then escorted by the soldiers to a hut. A senior soldier then comes into the hut and says the unit will escort her home. However, Oshin declines the offer mentioning she knows the way and walks home on her own.
Upon her return to her home, Oshin is once again sent out to work as a babysitter. This time she is sent to Kaga-ya in Sakata . Oshin makes good friends with the family's daughter, who is the same age as her, and stays at the Kaga-ya until she turns 16. During this time, she is loved by all the people and is personally taught by Mrs. Yashiro, the owner of Kaga-ya. Kayo, the heir to Kaga-ya, and Oshin fall in love with Kota. Their whole lives are changed by this man, who was a strong follower of socialism.
After returning home Oshin discovers that her father wants her to work as a bar maid. Realizing that the bar maid job is a cover for prostitution, Oshin runs off to Tokyo to follow her older sister Haru's dream of becoming a hair stylist. Haru died due to hard labor in a silk factory just after Oshin returned from Kaga-ya to her home.
While working as a hairstylist, she meets Ryuzo, a rich trader, and the two of them get married. Her teacher was madam Daka. But they go bankrupt because of the economic depression and of the incorrect trading methods Ryuzo had implemented. Their first child is a boy, Takeshi. Thanks to both their great efforts, they manage to start over again. While they survive the Great Earthquake of 1923, their house and business is destroyed, forcing them to return to her in-laws' house. Since their marriage was not approved by Kiyo, the mother-in-law, Oshin suffers greatly while living with them.
She breaks her arm while attempting to escape and suffers a miscarriage because of the hard labor she has to endure working in the fields. She finally leaves her child with her in-laws and attempts to rebuild her life. Subsequently, she finds out she can no longer be a hair stylist because of her broken arm.
She owns and operates a small bar-restaurant, works as a pastry chef and even as a peddler of fresh fish. Finally, her business booms with her husband's help, and Oshin establishes a small but bustling raw seafood shop.
The story continues up to 1983, and follows Oshin's adult life as she becomes a wife, raises children of her own, and experiences real-life events - including earthquakes and World War II.

Manimal premiered as a 90-minute pilot that aired on September 30, 1983. The series featured the story of Dr. Jonathan Chase, a shape-shifter who could turn himself into any animal he chose, and used this ability to help fight crime. Only two people were aware of Jonathan's secret, his friend Ty Earl and Police Detective Brooke Mackenzie. Jonathan and Ty would assist Brooke with a case she was working on, with Jonathan transforming himself into an animal when it became useful.

While Jonathan had the ability to change himself into any animal, he would transform into a hawk and a black panther in nearly every episode. In some episodes, he would transform into a third animal, such as a horse, dolphin, bear, or bull, with the transformation taking place offscreen, though once he was shown becoming a snake. The transformation sequences were designed and created by the Academy Award-winning SFX artist Stan Winston. Another aspect of the transformations that added to the show's camp factor involved Dr. Chase's clothing during a transformation: He was depicted generally wearing a three-piece suit and tie, and the viewer would see it rip off of him as he shape-shifted into an animal, though once the transformation was complete there would be no sign of his discarded clothing. A bit later, he would transform back into human form with all of his clothing perfectly restored upon his person, even if he was unconscious - wikipedia
